Craftwork in Kyoto, Japan

This project was not only tight in time constraint, but also budget. Many of the materials were salvaged. The Goza (outer lining of the tatami) was salvaged from a discard pile at a tatami makers shop. The timber was stripped and refurbished from the existing trimming of the residence. This room was an attempt to bring together my experiences thus far in Japan, built during Autumn signified by the calligraphy painting on the wall.
